Yash-starrer "Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups" is reportedly on track to register a strong start at the box office, with the gangster action drama recording ₹24.27 crore in early bookings for its opening day. Including blocked seats, the figure rises to ₹32.52 crore, with more than 6.4 lakh tickets sold across India, as per reports.
The film’s pre-sales are being driven mainly by its Hindi and Kannada versions. The Hindi 2D version has collected ₹11.06 crore from 3.33 lakh tickets, while the Kannada version has earned ₹10.99 crore from 2.64 lakh tickets. The Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions have together sold more than 42,000 tickets.
"Toxic" has already made history by overtaking "Jana Nayagan", which had ₹22.26 crore in opening-day advances. It now has the second-highest opening-day booking for an Indian film in 2026, behind "Dhurandhar 2", which stands at ₹53 crore.
Karnataka remains the film’s strongest domestic market, contributing more than ₹10.69 crore across over 1,740 shows. Gujarat has the highest number of allocated shows at 2,319, followed by Maharashtra with 2,189. In the US, early pre-sales have crossed $146,251.
"Toxic" is scheduled to release on August 26 across more than 12,000 screens worldwide. Trade analysts believe the film could challenge the ₹100 crore mark globally on its opening day.
However, its advance booking pace is still below "KGF: Chapter 2". The 2022 blockbuster recorded more than ₹80 crore in final Day 1 advances across India, including around ₹40 crore net from Hindi alone. "KGF 2" benefited from enormous sequel anticipation, while "Toxic", directed by Malayali filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, is emerging as a major star-driven standalone release.
