Set against the backdrop of a prison, "Bandar" explores the debate around the #MeTooForMen movement and examines what happens when accusations, media attention and public judgment take over a person’s life before the legal process has reached a conclusion. The story follows an aging television star whose life falls apart after a woman accuses him of sexual assault. The film focuses on the impact of media trials, social condemnation and the difficult search for truth and justice.

The film has already received strong praise from The Week, calling it “one of the best prison dramas ever made” and making special note of the intense and realistic depiction of prison life — the overcrowded cells, gangs, corrupt police officers and the failures of an unfair justice system. The review also praised the contribution of production design and performances to the disturbing atmosphere, making the prison feel frighteningly real.

The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap and Sakshi Mehta, from a script by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee. Saiyed Shaaz Rizvi handles cinematography, while Aarti Bajaj is the editor. Music comes from Amit Trivedi and Vishal Mishra.

It was produced by Nikhil Dwivedi, Shivie Pandit and Gaurie Pandit under Saffron Magicworks and Nikhil Dwivedi Studios.
