Netflix has not only confirmed a premiere window for "Blue Eye Samurai" Season 2 but also announced that the show will conclude with a third season. The second six-episode season will be streaming in January 2027. A teaser trailer has been released online.

Maya Erskine returns to voice Mizu, alongside Brenda Song (Akemi), Darren Barnet (Taigen), and Masi Oka (Ringo). Freddie Fox ("Slow Horses", "House of the Dragon") has officially joined the voice cast for the London arc.

Season 2 picks up immediately after the explosive Season 1 finale, dividing its narrative across two distinct global fronts. Mizu sails across rough seas toward England alongside her captive, Abijah Fowler. Fowler serves as her guide to identify the remaining two white men connected to her past. The narrative is expected to challenge her long-held assumptions about her targets and her own identity. Back home, Akemi and Taigen must survive the cutthroat politics of Edo Castle under the rule of a dangerous new Shogun. Meanwhile, Ringo searches for a new purpose in life following the aftermath of the great fire.

The creators have teased that certain characters viewers presumed dead from Season 1 may actually still be alive. Amber Noizumi and Michael Green return as creators, whilst handling writing duties. Jane Wu is back as supervising director alongside returning episodic director Alan Taylor and newcomer John Aoshima.

French animation firm Blue Spirit continues to produce the show's signature blend of 2D and 3D visual styles. To enhance the scale, production work has been split evenly between their Angoulême and Montreal studios. The creators are reportedly prioritising a "live-action philosophy" for choreography, incorporating elite real-world stunt coordinators to design the high-octane combat sequences.
