For a change, a new Dan Brown book is going for the Netflix series treatment instead of the feature-length approach. "The Secret of Secrets", the acclaimed author's new bestseller, has been making waves in the fiction world following its early July release. Netflix has already fast-tracked production, with casting already underway.
Morgan Spector of "The Gilded Age" has been confirmed to play Robert Langdon, the recurring protagonist of the sixth Robert Langdon book. Joining the Harvard symbologist is his first serious love interest, Katherine Solomon, to be played by Rebecca Hall ("The Town"), Spector’s real-life spouse. Solomon is the noetic scientist we met in an earlier Langdon novel, 'The Lost Symbol'.
Langdon has had several fleeting love interests, but 'The Secret of Secrets' marks his first-ever truly serious, ongoing relationship. Showrunner Carlton Cuse confirmed that this evolution marks the first time Langdon has a lasting romantic partner, changing how he views the world. Traditionally, Langdon has functioned as a lifelong bachelor.
The past novels followed an "adventure-hero" template in the vein of Indiana Jones, where he teams up with a brilliant woman to solve a mystery, sparks fly, but then the relationship quickly fizzles out before the next book begins. We saw this happen with Vittoria Vetra in 'Angels & Demons' and Sophie Neveu in 'The Da Vinci Code'.
With Katherine Solomon, however, it's different. When they first meet in Washington, D.C., they share a deep connection but do not officially date. This changes completely in 'The Secret of Secrets', which opens with Langdon and Katherine in a committed relationship, making her his definitive love interest.
As for the plot, 'The Secret of Secrets' is thematically connected to 'The Lost Symbol'. Set across Prague, London, and New York, it follows Langdon's attempts to find Katherine Solomon after she disappears following a brutal murder. Langdon must decrypt ancient myths and cutting-edge science to find a missing manuscript that could change human understanding of consciousness.
Filming is scheduled to take place in Prague. Because casting deals were finalised in late July 2026, the series is currently in pre-production. An official release date on Netflix has not yet been announced.
