'Heartstopper Forever': When does Alice Oseman's series finale premiere on Netflix?

The finale of Netflix's "Heartstopper" series, which comes in the form of a movie titled "Heartstopper Forever", is gearing up for its premiere. The full-length feature, which replaces the fourth season of the queer teen drama, is the definitive series finale and will premiere on July 17, 2026.

Written and created by Alice Oseman and directed by Wash Westmore, the film’s total duration is 114 minutes.

The movie is an adaptation of the sixth and final volume of Alice Oseman's graphic novel series, aside from her novella, "Nick and Charlie". As the members of the Truham and Higgs schools prepare for life after high school, Nick and Charlie's relationship faces its ultimate test. Charlie navigates his final year of school and increasing independence while his boyfriend, Nick, prepares to leave for university. As they face the realities of a long-distance relationship, Charlie grapples with his doubts and transitions into this new phase of the relationship.

Oseman has said that the film will take a slightly "grittier," more mature look at romance, addressing the transitional period between adolescence and adulthood.

Premiering alongside the movie on July 17, "Heartstopper Forever: The Official Podcast" will be hosted by Tia Kofi and feature interviews with the cast and creative crew to reflect on the series. Plus, a Behind-the-Scenes special titled "Heartstopper: Ending on a Hi" will debut on Netflix on July 24, 2026, offering an inside look at the making of the finale.

In a chat with Netflix Tudum, Connor and Locke, who are also involved as executive producers for the first time on this property, expressed their feelings on saying goodbye to their characters. “These characters have meant a lot to us over the years. As EPs, it feels like we can really say goodbye to them in a way that feels the most right. It is bittersweet, but it is also a really nice way of ending it,” said Connor.

Locke adds, “This show has meant so much to me in my life. I’ll always carry that with me.”

Oseman shared that "Heartstopper Forever" will be an exploration of time, memory, love, pain, the changing of the seasons, endings and beginnings, and the core element of Heartstopper: the ordinary magic of our everyday lives.”
