'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Season 3 teaser shows rise of Sauron

Amazon MGM Studios unveiled the teaser trailer of the third season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" at the San Diego Comic-Con. The footage revealed major plot points, such as the creation of the iconic One Ring and Sauron successfully forging it inside Mount Doom.

It is set five years after the fall of Eregion, followed by full-scale warfare engulfing Middle-earth. The teaser showed the High King Gil-galad rallying forces, while Galadriel swings her sword in battle, and four terrifying Nazgnagôl (early Second Age Ringwraiths) make their screen debut.

Developed by showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay exclusively for Amazon Prime Video, "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is an epic fantasy television series based on J. R. R. Tolkien's history of Middle-earth—primarily drawing from the appendices of "The Lord of the Rings."

The prequel series is set thousands of years before "The Hobbit" and chronicles the major historical events of Middle-earth's Second Age. The narrative focuses on the forge of the titular Rings of Power and the menacing rise of the Dark Lord Sauron.

Season 3 is officially scheduled to premiere on November 11, 2026. The storyline follows an ensemble cast—including younger versions of familiar characters like Galadriel and Elrond alongside original creations—as they confront the re-emergence of absolute evil.

The core lead cast members who drive the sprawling, interconnected storylines of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" include Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, The series' primary central protagonist, a fiercely determined Elven warrior driven to hunt down the remnants of evil; Charlie Vickers as Sauron/Halbrand: The deceptive, shapeshifting Dark Lord who manipulates the rulers of Middle-earth to secure his dominion; Robert Aramayo as Elrond, a politically ambitious half-Elven leader whose deep loyalty to his friends conflicts with his duty to his people; Daniel Weyman as Gandalf / "The Stranger", one of the powerful Istari (wizards) who originally plummeted to Middle-earth in a meteor, slowly discovering his true identity.
