'Interview with the Vampire' Season 4 announced: Plot, new and returning cast members of AMC show revealed

At the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con, the AMC network officially announced that the "Interview with the Vampire" series has been renewed for a fourth season, which will be rebranded as Anne Rice's "Queen of the Damned", similar to the rebranding of Season 3 as "The Vampire Lestat".

Evidently, Season 4 will draw directly from Anne Rice's third Vampire Chronicles novel. Hannah Moscovitch, already involved as an executive producer on the show, will now handle showrunning duties, taking over from series creator Rolin Jones, who will now remain executive producer.

Season 4's principal focus is undoubtedly going to be the ancient, original vampire Akasha (played by Sheila Atim). Surviving main characters from the previous seasons will return as they grapple with her apocalyptic resurgence. The Season 3 finale had already hinted at the apocalyptic arc, which many assumed will set up the Season 4 opening.

Season 3 ended with Lestat de Lioncourt facing a global vampire emergency, which was accidentally triggered through his public rockstar appearance, breaking the sacred vampire secrecy laws. Following which he is attacked by an angry regional vampire coven loyal to Armand, resulting in a violent battle, and exposing the true nature of vampires to the mortal world. The ensuing mass destruction initiates the arrival of Akasha, the primordial Queen, who begins unleashing her global mayhem.

Returning cast members include Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt, Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Assad Zaman as Armand, Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy (fully embracing his new vampire identity), and Sheila Atim as Akasha (stepping up as the central villain).
