'Dhamaal 4' is outperforming many of Ajay Devgn's recent releases and demonstrating a trajectory similar to its predecessor, 'Total Dhamaal'. Its success, coupled with a lack of direct competition, suggests a sustained strong run at the box office

Despite taking a sharp drop on Monday (Rs 8.75 net compared to the Rs 28.50 crore collected on Sunday), "Dhamaal 4" has, over the 4 days, established itself as a lucrative comedy franchise. A strong weekend surge was observed on Saturday (60%) with Rs 22.50 crore, followed by an uptick on Sunday with the aforementioned Rs 28.50 crore.
"Dhamaal 4" is performing significantly better than Ajay Devgn's most recent releases, though it tracks slightly below his all-time biggest comedy blockbusters. It opened lower than its immediate predecessor, "Total Dhamaal", but is demonstrating a similar strong trajectory owing to footfall from family audiences. When "Total Dhamaal" finished its theatrical run, its lifetime global gross stood at Rs 228 crore.
"Dhamaal 4" has also outperformed the actor's romantic comedy "De De Pyaar De 2", which earned Rs 21 crore net over its first two days, whereas "Dhamaal 4" collected Rs 36.50 crore in the same timeframe. The same goes for "Son of Sardaar 2", which collected only Rs 15.50 crore net by its second day.
Devgn’s highest-grossing comedy is still "Golmaal Again" with a worldwide total of Rs 378.4 crore, which remains unbeaten among the actor’s career benchmarks. Since "Dhamaal 4" doesn't have any other competing releases, it should be able to have a solid run at the box office for a while.
