After working with Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan again in "Haiwaan", which was recently completed, director Priyadarshan was expected to do another Malayalam film with Mohanlal, a musical revolving around a father and son. However, the project has been delayed and postponed to 2027, since the script needed more revisions.
Moreover, since Mohanlal is next going to do Dileesh Pothan's fourth film, the actor's most frequent collaborator and friend will be directing yet another film with another friend and frequent collaborator, Akshay Kumar himself.
There were already reports of another potential collaboration between the duo circulating since last year. Now, having delivered another hit in the form of "Bhooth Bangla" and post-Haiwaan, they are embarking on another comic adventure. Bollywood Hungama reports that the title is "Wicked Sunny", a reference to Akshay's character's theme song in the 2004 David Dhawan movie "Mujhse Shaadi Karogi". Ramesh Taurani of Tips Films is reportedly bankrolling it.
“The film has been titled Wicked Sunny. The makers believe that the title does complete justice to the film’s zone as well as its lead character. Moreover, 'Wicked Sunny' has strong recall value. It was the name of the theme played during Akshay Kumar’s scenes in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004). The theme remains extremely catchy and popular even 22 years after the film’s release,” the source told the portal.
The source further added that “Wicked Sunny” will see Akshay doing a different comic role compared to his earlier ones, calling it “a wacky comic avatar” that fans of his recent hits are going to enjoy. Let’s wait and see, shall we?
