A star-studded cast is being assembled for the Netflix-backed period film "Bad Bridgets", directed by Rich Peppiatt. With filming set for July 2026, the film's principal cast comprises a stellar list of established Hollywood and Irish talents.

Colin Farrell ("The Penguin", "In Bruges"), Steve Coogan ("Legends", "Philomena"), Charlie Heaton ("Stranger Things"), Domhnall Gleeson ("About Time", "The Paper"), Himesh Patel ("Inception", "Tenet"), Niamh Algar ("The Iris Affair"), and Simone Kirby ("Kneecap")are joining the previously announced lead stars, Emilia Jones and Alison Oliver, as per a report in Deadline.

The film explores a unique piece of history: A young Irish woman leaves for 19th-century New York following a mysterious letter offering escape, only to find herself pulled into a chaotic, unruly underworld. It is directly inspired by the non-fiction book “Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women” written by historians Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick.

The phrase describes the millions of impoverished Irish girls and women who moved to North America in search of survival, many of whom faced severe systemic hardships and frequently ended up on the wrong side of the law.

Meanwhile, Farrell, who is currently appearing in the second season of "Sugar", has an exciting line-up that includes "Sgt. Rock", a highly anticipated comic book adaptation spearheaded by DC Studios. He has previously praised the script as "fantastic".

He is also part of "Ordained", a high-octane action thriller backed by the Russo Brothers' AGBO banner, and written by "John Wick" creator Derek Kolstad.

Additionally, Farrell will reprise his award-winning 'Penguin' in Matt Reeves' Robert Pattinson-fronted "The Batman Part II", scheduled for release on October 1, 2027.
