After a 17-day theatrical run, Imtiaz Ali's latest directorial has garnered an impressive Rs 70.88 crore in worldwide collections. Its domestic net total now stands at Rs 46.30 crore and a domestic gross of Rs 55.23 crore. The film, which earned ₹4.50 Cr net on its seventeenth day, also secured about 15.65 crore in overseas gross during this period, per Sacnilk's box office report.

The box office performance of "Main Vaapas Aaunga" is, needless to say, a rare, one-of-a-kind event. Though it started with daily revenue as low as Rs 1 crore in its first week, it picked up in the second and third weeks, with impressive spikes during the weekends. In its second weekend, it earned around Rs 10 crore from Saturday and Sunday, and nearly Rs 9 crore in the third weekend.

It recalls a similar box office trajectory of a 2023 release, "12th Fail" (2023), which opened with an extremely low number (est. Rs 1.10 crore), and maintained flat or increased collections for several consecutive weeks due to strong audience interest. It eventually became a super hit.

"Main Vaapas Aaunga" is a classic "sleeper hit" at the 2026 box office, defying conventional theatrical behaviour. The film was produced on a reported budget of Rs 70 crore. While its Day 17 cumulative worldwide gross stands at Rs 70.88 crore, from a purely theatrical distributor-share standpoint, the film is in tight but steady territory (given its domestic theatrical net, Rs 46.30 crore), since its slower initial run hinted at a discouraging distributor share.

Additionally, the film's financial safety net is reportedly also secured by its non-theatrical rights, said to be in the ballpark of Rs 30 crore (not official). When factoring this and the steadily growing daily big-screen earnings, "Main Vaapas Aaunga" should eventually be considered a solid commercial success.
