Vijay Kiragandur's Hombale, known for giant blockbusters like "KGF" and "Kantara", has signed filmmaker T.J. Gnanavel, known for "Jai Bhim" and "Vettaiyan".
As per reports, the film will be a gritty, character-driven historical drama mounted on a massive scale. Kayadu Lohar is the female lead. Sai Abhyankkar, known for his work on "Karuppu", Suriya's highest-grossing film of all time, is on board as music composer.
The project was officially unveiled on June 29, 2026, Monday, with a tribute post from Hombale Films celebrating Suriya's three-decade legacy in cinema. While the official title and plot details remain under wraps, it is naturally expected to be a wide, pan-India theatrical release.
Suriya is fresh off the box office success of "Karuppu", which was directed by RJ Balaji. A supernatural vigilante drama where a father's ritual invokes the guardian deity Karuppu, it saw the actor making meta references to some of his previous hits, too. Though it received mixed-to-positive reviews, it eventually grew into a massive commercial blockbuster, officially becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026, earning over 300 crore worldwide.
The actor is now gearing up for the release of filmmaker Venky Atluri's romantic family drama "Vishwanath and Sons" on August 14, 2026. His co-stars include Mamitha Baiju alongside veterans Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon. The film is produced by Sithara Entertainments with a musical score composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar.
