Over its first three days, "Cocktail 2" has achieved a spectacular Rs 76.25 crore worldwide gross collection. Driven by a stellar 9.2% growth in domestic earnings on Day 3, the film is demonstrating powerful momentum across both local and international markets.
"Cocktail 2" has domestically netted Rs 17.75 crore on Day 3 from 10,462 shows, and grossed Rs 57 crore in India alone, with a net total of Rs 47.50 crore so far.
The rom-com entertainer, which has Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon as the female leads, is moving in the same pattern as "Saiyaara" and "Tanu Weds Manu Returns", without crashing on the big opening day.
Despite the mixed-to-negative critical reviews, the performance is driven by strong, positive audience word-of-mouth. The domestic earnings are also backed by a strong overseas number (Rs 19.25 crore per Sacnilk data), and also recall the theatrical run of the comedy family drama "Jugjugg Jeeyo", which also collected over Rs 75 crore.
Such urban dramas and romantic comedies naturally earn a higher percentage of their total collections from overseas markets (like North America, the UK, and the UAE) coms. If a Rs 75 crore global gross is possible in three days, there is no doubt that it will soon hit the 100 crore mark within this week.
Directed by Homi Adajania and written by Luv Ranjan, "Cocktail 2", which has already outperformed the Saif Ali Khan original from 2012, and Shahid Kapoor's recent outings, such as "O'Romeo", is produced by Maddock Films. It scored higher than Luv Ranjan's "De De Pyaar De 2 (Rs 9.45 crore) and other romantic comedies like "Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari" and "Param Sundari" during the opening weekend.
