Arshad Warsi, Barun Sobti return as 'Asur' Season 3 goes on floors in September

Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti are set to return for the third season of "Asur", with the crime thriller reportedly going on floors in September. The new season will also mark a significant change behind the camera, with creator and writer Gaurav Shukla set to take over as director.

According to an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, the team has locked the project and is preparing to begin filming in September. The season is also expected to introduce a new cast member, with Shweta Basu Prasad reportedly joining the series.

Gaurav Shukla, who created and wrote the first two seasons of “Asur”, will make his directorial debut with the upcoming season. He is also expected to produce the new instalment.

The first two seasons were directed by Oni Sen, with Shukla serving as writer and creator. His move into direction marks a change in the creative team as the series enters its third chapter.

The “Asur” franchise began with its first season on Voot, while the second season streamed on JioCinema. The third season will stream on JioHotstar.

The new season will retain its principal leads, with Warsi and Sobti returning. The earlier seasons also featured Ridhi Dogra, Vishesh Bansal, Gaurav Arora, Anupriya Goenka, Amey Wagh, Sharib Hashmi, Meiyang Chang and Abhishek Chauhan.

Warsi had earlier confirmed that “Asur 3” was his next project. Speaking to Mid-Day, he said the team was working out the dates for the shoot.

“I am yet to read the script, but verbally we know that it’s happening,” he said.

With filming expected to begin in September and Shukla taking on both directing and producing duties, “Asur 3” is set to enter its next phase with the original leads returning and a new creative hand at the helm.
