In two days, "Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past" has outperformed its 15-year-old predecessor, "Haunted 3D" (2011), in terms of day-to-day collection surge. On Day 2, the sequel, co-directed by Vikram Bhatt and Manish P. Chavan, collected a net of Rs 3.25 crore across 3,770 shows, taking the domestic gross total to Rs 6.78 crore and net total Rs 5.75 crore.

Compared to Day 1, "Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past" registered a 30% growth on Day 2. The first day fetched Rs 2.25 crore, which is more than what other Hindi-language releases like Imtiaz Ali's "Main Vaapas Aaunga" and Kangana Ranaut's "Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata" did. What's even more impressive is that, unlike major hits like "Stree 2", which relied on a business from above 3,500 premium screens, the "Haunted 3D" sequel achieved its Rs 5.75 crore primarily through targeted single screens and strong regional performance in mass hubs like Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata.

By contrast, the 2011 film had a flat Saturday, growing by less than 7% before peaking on Sunday. The 2011 original was a massive event because it was India's first stereoscopic 3D film, releasing on 1,044 prints (a high number for its time). The 2026 sequel relies on 3,770 shows, from single screens and B and C centers due to an ongoing multiplex dispute.

In terms of scale and performance, "Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past", which stars Mahaakshay Chakraborty (Mimoh) and Chetna Pande, cannot be compared to the major Hindi blockbusters from the horror-comedy and supernatural genre.

The 2011 original went on to gross Rs 37.03 crore globally against its reported Rs 13 crore budget, becoming a highly profitable hit. With an estimated budget of Rs 15 crore, the 2026 sequel is on track for an easy recovery if its weekday hold emulates the original's long run.
