The much-awaited film Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and directed by Shiv Rawali, dropped its teaser on Instagram today.
The film is part of the highly successful YRF Spy Universe, which gave us hits like Tiger Zinda Hai, Pathaan and War. It is the franchise’s first female-led action thriller. The movie also has Sharvari as the other main female lead, along with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor.
The teaser features Alia and Bobby Deol as her character’s father and also the head of a mission called ‘Alpha’, which recruits and prepares India’s next-generation soldiers for secret missions. The teaser starts with an innocent and naive Alia – it seems off mark; perhaps because we have not seen that version of her for so long. The power-packed version, which comes later, is satisfying to watch with Sanchit Balhara’s background score. It is clear from the teaser that Alia has pushed her physical boundaries for the action sequences. Deol too impresses with his intense energy.
According to reports, the film skips the traditional romantic tropes and is driven by the origin story of assassins raised to kill. The film’s cinematography is led by Rubais, who is known in the advertising industry for advertising with major production houses like Nirvana Films and Crazy Few Films. Rather than the usual sun-soaked aesthetic seen in Indian spy films, Alpha goes for a more gritty and nocturnal aesthetic.
The music and background score of the film are composed by the frequent collaborator duo of Yash Raj Films, Sanchit and Ankit Balhara.
The film is set to release on July 3, 2026.
