Suriya's action-fantasy blockbuster 'Karuppu' is still doing a daily business of nearly Rs 2 crore, even after completing 24 days in theatres. During its fourth weekend, the RJ Balaji-directed vigilante thriller demonstrated supreme box-office staying power, collecting an impressive Rs 4.65 crore gross inside India (Rs 4.05 crore net). The performance was fueled by a massive 62.7% surge on Saturday and an overall occupancy rate of 53.42% on Sunday, solidifying its place in the all-time top 10 Tamil Nadu grossers.

Interestingly, "Karuppu" fared better in its fourth weekend than Vijay's "Leo" and "The Greatest of All Time" during their fourth weekends. Those two movies, which relied mostly on massive front-loaded earnings, experienced sharp theatrical exhaustion by the fourth week.

However, "Karuppu" witnessed a box-office jump on its fourth Saturday (growing from Rs 83 lakh on fourth Friday to Rs 1.47 crore net on Saturday), followed by Rs 1.75 crore on fourth Sunday.

Comparatively, "The Greatest of All Time", released in 2024, took in a fourth weekend gross of only Rs 2.10 crore and crashed heavily by the fourth week after its OTT release. "Leo", on the other hand, collected just Rs 1.80 crore in the fourth weekend gross.

Globally, though, "Karuppu" is behind “Leo” and “The GOAT”, but far ahead of Vijay's "Master", "Sarkar", "Beast", "Mersal", "Bigil", and "Varisu".

"Karuppu" officially entered the Rs 300 crore club on the fourth Saturday, only the 10th film in Tamil cinema history to ever attain this milestone globally. It reached a cumulative global total of Rs 304.15 crore from an overseas gross of Rs 80.60 crore.

With this number, "Karuppu" has crowned itself the highest-grossing film of Suriya's career.

Before "Karuppu", Suriya’s biggest hit of all time was "Singam 2", released in 2013. For over a decade, this was Suriya's benchmark for domestic and local theatrical collections. "Karuppu" shattered its lifetime Tamil Nadu record in just four days.

When is 'Karuppu' releasing on Prime Video?

Meanwhile, Prime Video has officially announced on Monday (June 8) that "Karuppu" will premiere on June 12, nearly a month after its theatrical release.
