Suriya's fantasy-action entertainer "Karuppu" noted a 59.3% drop on the third Monday, earning Rs 2.40 crore compared to Rs 5.90 crore it earned on the third Sunday.

However, this is normal for a movie that has already completed a two-week theatrical run. Had we seen this drop after the end of the first weekend, it would've been a sign of concern, but the film has already generated a worldwide lifetime gross of Rs 292 crore, according to the latest Sacnilk tracking figures.

This puts the RJ Balaji directorial ahead of Rajnikanth's "Kabali", Vijay's "Mersal", "Master" and "Sarkar". It needs another Rs 8 crore to enter the 300 crore club, which it’s expected to reach this week. In terms of the total domestic net, "Karuppu" collected Rs 184.85 crore so far and grossed Rs 213.75 crore, already breaking a few milestones in its home state and in the country. The overseas gross comes to Rs 78.25 crore.

"Karuppu" is the 14th Tamil film to clear Rs 200 crore gross in India. In Tamil Nadu, it's currently the 9th highest-grossing film, overtaking Vijay's  "Varisu" and "Ponniyin Selvan-2 to capture the 9th spot on the highest-grossing films list in Tamil Nadu.

"Karuppu" also marks an unprecedented personal record for actor Suriya, completely smashing the lifetime earnings of his previous films to become his first-ever entry into the Rs 200 crore domestic and Rs 250 crore global clubs.

“Karuppu” is currently the only big-budget Tamil film generating the big bucks at the box office alongside the mid-budget hit “Blast” starring Arjun Sarja, Preity Mukundhan and Abhirami.
