Rumours swirl around Kangana Ranaut after a viral video of her wearing a mangalsutra (a sacred necklace worn by married women in India) and green bangles quickly spread across social media platforms, Instagram and X.
The video shows her stepping out of her Mumbai residence in pink pastels, with green bangles on her wrists and a mangalsutra around her neck.
The video was posted in the late evening of May 21 and gained 8.9 million views in just 17 hours. Netizens split into two camps. Many questioned whether she was married, and some others theorised that the get-up could be for a film shoot.

Has Kangana secretly got married? pic.twitter.com/wBCoNCZVLL
Some users commented, "Is she married?" and "Wait, is that (a) mangalsutra", while other users wrote "Looks like people in (the) comment section forget that she is an actor. This might be related to her movie shooting", and "She came out of a movie shoot."
Reports later surfaced from entertainment-focused news outlets such as Mid-Day, stating that, in reality, she was filming for the upcoming film Queen 2, which had begun shooting in early May. The film tells the story of Rani (played by Kangana Ranaut), an independent woman finding her way through the chaos of modern urban life.
While director Vikas Bahl has not explicitly stated the themes explored in the film, production insiders state that the film revolves around independence and self-discovery. The film is expected to be released in late 2026 and is eagerly awaited by fans who look forward to watching the sequel to the original 2014 film titled Queen.
Kangana later took to Instagram stories on May 22 to personally deny the marriage rumours and confirm the look was for a film shoot. She assured her fans by saying, "Actors play all kinds of roles, I won’t marry secretly, I promise."
Kangana is known for guarding her personal life and rarely shares details about her private affairs with the public. She has stated previously that she prefers to protect matters regarding her personal life. A decade ago, long before her political career, Kangana famously told the media, "I am not a social media person… My personal space is for myself and my near and dear ones."
