For a film that just entered its seventh week, and with multiple other big releases competing for screens, "Dhurandhar: The Revenge" did good business on its seventh Saturday, earning Rs 2.40 crore, which officially pushed it to the second place in the Top 5 worldwide Indian grossers list, overtaking "Baahubali 2".
The Prabhas-starrer, directed by SS Rajamouli, had earned Rs 1788.06 in lifetime gross. "Dhurandhar 2" has so far collected Rs 1788.32 crore, as per Sacnilk box office data. This adds another milestone to the many that the Ranveer Singh movie, directed by Aditya Dhar, has already accumulated.
In terms of India's box office net earnings, "Dhurandhar 2" has collected Rs 1,138.54 cr, while the overall gross amounts to Rs 1,362.57 crore. The overseas figures stand at Rs 425.75 crore. It now trails "Dangal" at the worldwide box office. The Aamir Khan movie remains unsurpassed with a lifetime gross of over Rs 2000 crore. "Dhurandhar 2" could've earned more had it secured releases in the GCC countries and China, a privilege which "Dangal" had.
"Dhurandhar 2" was the fastest Bollywood film to reach several milestones, crossing Rs 1,000 crore net in India by Day 18. Despite the film witnessing a gradual slowdown in screens as it entered its seventh week, it continues to add small amounts to its total, aiming for a possibly final lifetime gross near Rs 1,830 crore, according to early estimates.
After hovering around the Rs 1 crore mark on weekdays, the seventh Saturday surge of Rs 2.40 crore indicates strong family audience interest even after 45 days of running in theatres. The Hindi version maintained a solid 33.0% occupancy on Saturday despite competition from newer releases like "Raja Shivaji" and "Bhooth Bangla".
In South India alone, the film is nearing a historic Rs 300 crore gross milestone, marking another record for a non-South Indian film.
