Box Office: Shahid Kapoor's 'Cocktail 2' on track for ₹90 crore worldwide, trails 'Bhooth Bangla' in 4-day opening collections
Interestingly, its 4-day performance mirrors that of Akshay Kumar's horror-comedy, "Bhooth Bangla," a different genre. Despite mixed reviews, audiences have shown strong weekend support, a trend seen in many recent Indian rom-coms
After a 4-day theatrical run, Shahid Kapoor-starrer "Cocktail 2" has grossed ₹85.78 crore globally. Although it experienced a ₹62% drop on the crucial first Monday, the day's collection stood at ₹6.75 crore, per Sacnilk's data estimates. In India, the rom-com co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti

In India, the rom-com co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon grossed ₹65.03 crore and netted ₹54.25 crore so far.
The strong, growth-oriented opening weekend (opening at ₹13.50 crore and peaking on Sunday at ₹17.75 crore) followed by a steep first Monday drop of roughly 60%–62%, is typical for most standard Bollywood star-driven fare of similar variety. Interestingly, its 4-day performance is nearly the same as Akshay Kumar's "Bhooth Bangla", despite belonging to different genres. In fact, the Priyadarshan horror-comedy movie did better than "Cocktail 2".
However, it must be said that the negative-to-mixed reactions of the latter haven't deterred audiences from flocking to theatres in large numbers during the weekend.
Several Indian movies, specifically in the rom-com genre, have left a highly similar box-office footprint. For example, the previous Shahid-Kriti movie, "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya", released in 2024, started with a solid double-digit opening, registered healthy growth over Saturday and Sunday, driven by urban multiplexes, and then faced a significant 50%+ drop on its first Monday, ultimately tracking toward the ₹80–85 crore final domestic net total.
Then there was "Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar", released in 2023, which was directed by Luv Ranjan ("Cocktail 2" writer and producer). Helped by the presence of its major star power and a chart-topping soundtrack, the film posted big numbers during its initial weekend.
However, as is common with lengthy modern rom-coms, it took a sharp drop of around 55%–60% on its first regular working weekday. It eventually crossed the ₹100 crore mark domestically after a steady weekday performance. "Jugjugg Jeeyo", released in 2022, also demonstrated a similar 3-day performance (2022), and so did "Zara Hatke Zara Bachke", released in 2023, a mid-budget romantic comedy from Maddock Films — the same studio behind "Cocktail 2".
