Directed by Kanishk Varma and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Aashin A Shah, "Samuk" marks a reunion between Kumar and Vipul Shah after 12 years. The project is also being presented as a major genre shift for the actor and an ambitious step for Indian cinema.

Around 90% of the film will be shot across the UK during one continuous shooting schedule, while the remaining 10% will be filmed in Mumbai. The makers are planning a major Pan-Indian theatrical release in 2027.

A key part of the film’s appeal is its international technical team. The main alien creature is being created by Academy Award-nominated effects artist Alec Gillis, known for his work on iconic franchises like "Alien" and "Predator". As a product of the legendary Roger Corman film school, Gillis has worked with James Cameron and the late effects wizard Stan Winston, among others.

Gillis has been brought on board "Samuk" because the filmmakers behind it are relying heavily on practical effects and animatronics instead of depending mainly on CGI or AI, aiming for a more realistic and frightening experience.

The action sequences are being designed by British action director Luke Tumber, a former Royal Marine who has worked on films including "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning", "Venom" and "No Time to Die".

With its international crew, practical creature effects and military-style action, "Samuk" is expected to be one of Akshay Kumar’s most unusual and ambitious projects yet.
