Kerala's biggest hit is soon coming to your devices! The Malayalam coming-of-age sequel to "Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys" will be arriving on JioHotstar on May 8. It was released in theatres on April 2, 2026.
In its review, THE WEEK wrote: "As with the first film, what elevates 'Vaazha 2' is the cast itself. These talented performers have much in common with the actors of writer-director Girish AD’s work ("Premalu", "Super Sharanya"). They act without being self-conscious, as if they aren't aware the camera is following them. It has to do with the fact that they are already content creators; what they do in these films is an extension of what they did before on their own."
Directed by debutant Savin S.A. and written by Vipin Das (also the writer of "Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys), the sequel is headlined by popular Malayalam content creators Hashir, Alan Bin Siraj, Ajin Joy, and Vinayak V.
Made on an approximate budget of Rs 10 crore, the movie has managed to become an exceptional return on investment.
Notably, the Telugu-dubbed version of "Vaazha 2" performed remarkably well, providing a significant boost to the film’s late-stage box office run, and continues to add to the cumulative worldwide total.
"Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros" was most recently crowned the industry hit (highest in Kerala box office). With a little over Rs 120 crore earned already in Kerala and approximately Rs 230 crores (and counting) in worldwide collections, the film set a record by reaching the Rs 100 crore gross mark in the Kerala box office within just 15–16 days.
It is only the fifth Malayalam film in history to cross the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide, joining an elite group that includes "Manjummel Boys", "Empuraan", "Thudarum", and "Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra".
It is currently the fourth-highest-grossing Malayalam film in the overseas market, outperforming "Manjummel Boys" and now trails "L2: Empuraan", "Lokah: Chapter 1 - Chandra", and "Thudarum".
Encouraged by the success of the two films, a third instalment, "Vaazha III: Biopic of a Billion Girls", has already been announced.
