"Moving" was one of the — if not the — greatest properties in the superhero/fantasy genre. Some of its fans, including yours truly, would strongly argue that it is ten times better than many superhero movies out there, to the point of even including it in the Top 5 list.
So, if any similarly passionate fans of "Moving" (which is available for Indian viewers on JioHotstar) are wondering what its creators have been up to, we have an answer. Well, to be specific, one of its creators.
Park Youn-seo, who also worked as a second unit director on Season 2 of "Kingdom" with director Park In-je, is back with a solo directorial effort, in the form of a horror series — touted as Korea's first YA (Young Adult) horror series — titled "If Wishes Could Kill".
As in the case of "Moving" and "Kingdom", the series has an enticingly crazy idea. It revolves around an app named 'Girigo' that grants wishes for a... deadly... price, and involves a bunch of high-school students navigating that all-too-familiar phase of chaotic, complex emotions — a time when certain urges could potentially lead one astray, in the worst manner possible.
As per the official logline provided by the makers for Netflix, the show “follows five friends — Yoo Se-ah (Jeon So-young), Lim Na-ri (Kang Mi-na), Kim Geon-woo (Baek Sun-ho), Kang Ha-joon (Hyun Woo-seok), and Choi Hyeong-wook (Lee Hyo-je) — whose ordinary days are shattered when their wishes start coming true under terrifying conditions."
The script comes from Park Joong-seop, who wrote "Dr Cheon and the Lost Talisman", which was reportedly a decent box office success in Korea.
"If Wishes Could Kill" will be streaming from April 24 on Netflix.
