'Toxic is a metaphorical gangster film': Yash on going in a bolder direction with filmmaker Geetu Mohandas

Slated for release on June 4, 2026, "Toxic" features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukimini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria in integral female roles

One of the biggest appearances at the 2026 CinemaCon held in Las Vegas was "KGF" actor Yash, who answered questions about his two upcoming biggies — "Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups" and ''Ramayana".

Yash, who is also co-producing both films, opened up on the "bolder" and "ambitious" direction of the Geetu Mohandas film in which he plays a gangster, possibly in dual roles, and with different looks.

"Toxic is a very ambitious project. I've always felt that the success the audience gives me isn't something to just celebrate; it comes with a responsibility to push myself and do something bigger and better each time," he said, adding that the love and support he received in his home turf have been "overwhelming."

"Toxic", he says, is a project he wishes to showcase on the global platform, and he believes that many from Indian cinema are working towards the "representation of Indian cinema."

It is why Yash and team "Toxic" shot the Kannada-origin film in English too, simultaneously. "It's a large-scale action film, yes, but it's also very nuanced," he shared. "It's not just like any other gangster film. It's more metaphorical. When you watch the film, you'll understand there's much more beyond the surface level."

On collaborating with filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, Yash remarked that she has "given a new take on the gangster film."

"It's going to be a visual treat as well as something which makes a huge impact on audience psychology as well," he added.

With a stellar ensemble featuring Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukimini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria, among others, "Toxic" is produced by Yash's Monster Mind Creations and KVN Productions.

It will release in theatres globally on June 4, 2026.
