The full print of actor-politician Vijay’s Jana Nayagan was reportedly leaked online in HD format after earlier reports said that clips of the film were found on social media. Fans and Netizens are now asking the filmmakers to take strict action against those responsible for the leak, Cinema Express reported.
The source of the leak is still unknown. The timing of the incident also creates a nightmare scenario for the TVK leader who is running for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Initial reports had said that clips of the film, including the title card and opening and climax scenes, were leaked onto social media.
KVN Productions, led by Venkat K Narayana, tried to take immediate steps after the leaked clips appeared online.
The incident has now developed in to a major crisis for the production team who made the Rs 400-500 crore movie as the entire print has now been shared on film pirating sites.
Users have asked the filmmaker and authorities to take strong legal action against those who are responsible. Others asked that the film be released in theatres soon.
Jana Nayagan was set to be released during Pongal this year, but it was delayed as the film couldn't obtain a censorship clearance. The film was undergoing a reexamination process after the makers filed a case against the board. Later, they withdrew the case and submitted the film, making new edits. Latest reports had said that the it would not be out until after the elections.
Jana Nayagan was also promoted as Vijay’s final film before he transitions into a full-time politician.
