Can 'Dhurandhar 2' reach the Rs 2000-crore milestone achieved by 'Dangal'?

The massive pre-release hype, strong franchise potential, and Ranveer Singh's star power have evidently contributed to the performance of 'Dhurandhar The Revenge' which is easily expected to trump its predecessor at the global box office

Within 10 days, "Dhurandhar 2" has demonstrated remarkable box office momentum. It's now part of the first Indian franchise to have two Rs 1000-crore films . Within 9 days of its release, the film has already crossed approximately Rs 1000 - Rs 1100 crore worldwide with over Rs 700 crore net in India alone. This rapid accumulation is indicative of a record-breaking opening phase and strong initial audience pull.

It goes without saying the film's early trajectory was nothing short of explosive. It entered the 500-crore club within just three days and crossed 700 crore globally within five days. By day 9, the figure was doubled, showing sustained high occupancy across both domestic and international markets. The massive pre-release hype, strong franchise potential, and Ranveer Singh's star power have evidently contributed to the performance of the Aditya Dhar directorial.

However, like most big-ticket films, a weekday drop has already been observed after the opening weekend. While still strong, the general data indicates a shift from from front-loaded earnings to steady-state collections — a critical phase for long-term totals.

For the film to reach the 2000-crore mark within the month (or let's just say, exactly after the 30-day period), several factors seem to be working in its favour.

The fact that it crossed the 1000-crore mark in under 10 days puts it ahead of many recent blockbusters.

Moreover, the strong pan-indian (which includes gross from regional language versions) and international collections are key contributing factors. The festival holidays (Eid, Ugadi, Ram Navami) were also taken into account to register a spike in figures.

Aside from shattering the benchmarks set by biggies like "Baahubali 2" and "Pushpa 2", "Dhurandhar 2" has already overtaken films like "Jawan", "Pathaan", "Animal", "Stree 2" and "Chaava" in terms of lifetime gross.

Looking at the trajectory of its growth in the last 10 days, if "Dhurandhar 2" is able to maintain even 40-45% of its opening-week pace over the next few weeks, the 2000-crore milestone isn't impossible. In order to reach the 2000-crore figure, it would require roughly about Rs 900 crore over the coming weeks, and it would take about a daily business of Rs 45 - 50 crore over the next 20 days.

However, there is no guarantee of this. While ambitious, one cannot rule out the possibility, provided we see minimal weekday drops and sustained momentum.
