Production has started on the live-action series adaptation of Ubisoft's popular game "Assassin’s Creed" in Rome, Italy. This new adaptation, which will take viewers back to the year 64 AD, will tell an original story set during the height of the Roman Empire.

Plot details, however, are kept under lock and key. An official logline goes as follows: “Assassin’s Creed is a fast-paced thriller about a hidden war between two secret groups — one trying to control humanity’s future, the other fighting to protect free will. The story follows these characters through key historical moments as they battle to shape the fate of mankind.”

The series has no connection to the 2016 movie adaptation of the same name starring Michael Fassbender.

The confirmed cast members include Lola Petticrew (known for "Say Nothing" and "Tuesday"), Toby Wallace (who is in the upcoming "Euphoria" Season 3 and "The Society"), Zachary Hart ("Slow Horses", "Black Doves" Season 2), Laura Marcus ("Bad Education", "Death by Lightning"), Tanzyn Crawford ("A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", "Tiny Beautiful Things"), Nabhaan Rizwan ("In Camera", "Juice"), and Claes Bang ("The Square", "Bad Sisters").

Additionally, Noomi Rapace ("Prometheus"), Ramzy Bedia ("Haunted Minds"), Sean Harris ("Mission: Impossible — Fallout"), and Corrado Invernizzi ("Ford v. Ferrari") will appear in recurring roles.

The creative team behind the show includes Emmy-nominated Roberto Patino ("Westworld", "Sons of Anarchy") and David Wiener ("Homecoming", "The Killing), who are involved as creators, showrunners, and executive producers.

In an official joint statement, they said: “We’ve loved 'Assassin’s Creed' since it first came out in 2007. Every day working on this series reminds us how much potential there is in this world. At its heart, it’s a story about people searching for purpose, wrestling with identity, and finding human connection across cultures and time. Our goal is to create something unforgettable for fans everywhere.”
