Dhurandhar: The Revenge is a storm that seems unbeatable at the moment, as crowds are thronging theatres across the country to catch the Ranveer Singh-led action/spy extravaganza.
The first instalment of the movie was a trendsetter in Bollywood, which toppled several box office records during its run. Some of the initial records set by the first part have already been decimated by the sequel. Unlike Dhurandhar: The Revenge, people had no idea what was in store when the first part was released; understandably, the buzz was low and advance bookings did not soar.
But how did Dhurandhar fare in its initial days compared to Dhurandhar 2's opening numbers? Here is a quick look for those interested.
'Dhurandhar' vs 'Dhurandhar 2': What the numbers tell
The first instalment of the movie raked in ₹28.60 crore after it was released across 5,000 screens on 5 December 2025. While it managed to beat the ₹21.5 crore collected by Saiyaara, it fell short of becoming the biggest Bollywood opening of the year, as Chhaava had recorded ₹31 crore.
The film, which was produced with a budget of ₹280 crore, did not do well in the advance bookings either. Sacnilk recorded the final advance bookings for Day 1 at ₹9.23 crore. It took over a week for Dhurandhar to reach ₹500 crore nett in India, making it Ranveer Singh's first film in that club.
In comparison, Dhurandhar 2 collected ₹102.55 crore nett across 21,728 shows on its first day in India. Through paid previews on 18 March, it had already amassed over ₹43 crore, meaning the film's total India gross stood at ₹172.63 crore, Sacnilk shows. The data-tracking website added that the Aditya Dhar movie's worldwide total has crossed ₹236.63 crore.
