Hans Zimmer boards Netflix's 'All the Sinners Bleed' adaptation led by Sope Dirisu

Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are executive producing the show through their company, Higher Ground Productions, along with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment

We had reported recently that acclaimed African-American author SA Cosby's book "All the Sinners Bleed" is being adapted by Netflix into a nine-episode series, with actor Sope Dirisu ("Gangs of London") cast as the protagonist, a Sheriff named Titus Crown, who is investigating a series of shocking murders in a Bible belt country.

The latest update is that music legend Hans Zimmer is on board to compose the score, confirmed by showrunner, writer, and director Joe Robert Cole. In an official statement, he said, “Hans crafts unforgettable themes and immersive scores that root you emotionally in the world of a story. Our series explores the lighter and darker halves of who we are as people and which side wins within us. I’m incredibly excited to have Hans and the Bleeding Fingers Music composer collective interpreting this core contention through music.”

Notably, "All the Sinners Bleed" was one of the books endorsed by former US President Barack Obama in his 2023 Summer Reading list. Obama and Michelle Obama are also executive producing the show through their company, Higher Ground Productions, along with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment.

Filming is underway for the project, which falls under the ‘Southern noir’ sub-genre of fiction that has previously witnessed significant contributions from such celebrated masters as Jim Thompson, Cormac McCarthy, James M. Cain, John D. McDonald, William Faulkner, and more.

Aside from Dirisu, the principal cast comprises John Douglas Thompson (“Mare of Easttown”), Nicole Beharie (“The Morning Show”), Daniel Ezra ("The Running Man"), Andrea Cortés (“Mayans M.C.”), Murray Bartlett (“The White Lotus”), and Leila George ("Mortal Engines").

The additional cast members appearing in recurring roles include Amy Madigan (Weapons), Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”), David Lyons (“The Beast in Me”), Donald Elise Watkins (Black Box), Mackenzie Astin (“The Magicians”), Jordan M. Cox (“P-Valley”), Cullen Moss (“Outer Banks”), Angus O’Brien (“Boots”), Cranston Johnson (“Hap and Leonard”), Christopher Matthew Cook (“The Walking Dead”), Christopher Thornton (“Magnum P.I.”), and Bill Oberst Jr. ("3 From Hell").

Joe Robert Cole, who wrote "Black Panther" and "The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story", is adapting Cosby's book for the screen and is involved as executive producer alongside Cosby.

All of Cosby's books have been on the top best-selling charts, beginning with "My Darkest Prayer", followed by "Blacktop Wasteland", "Razorblade Tears", and "All the Sinners Bleed".

His latest book, "King of Ashes", was published in June last year.
