Border 2 has slowed down considerably since the opening week but the film continues to maintain itself at steady lower levels at the domestic box office. The overseas run is virtually over and there won't be much coming from there over the next few days. The overseas collection for Border 2 is approximately $6 million, which is close to Rs 54-55 crore.
The bulk of the worldwide business has understandably come from India and this isn't surprising because neither Sunny Deol nor Varun Dhawan have much of a box office clout overseas. However, Border 2 was affected by the Gulf ban which could have given it another Rs 15-20 crore push to the final figure.
On its 16th day in India, Border 2 is showing a reasonable jump in collections from its third Friday. Remember, it did around Rs 3 crore nett on its 15th day and is looking at a figure of Rs 3.5-4.5 crore nett on its third Saturday. It would take the overall India nett figure past the Rs 290 crore mark.
The other major milestone that will be achieved today is the worldwide Rs 400 crore gross mark. It can be argued that this collection should have come from India alone but Border 2 did underperform after a huge first week that was largely driven by the Republic Day weekend that saw Rs 175 crore nett.
Overall, Border 2 is a clean SUPERHIT at the box office. It did show blockbuster trending initially but that soon dipped considerably. Regardless, the film is a huge success and in the northern belts, it is a huge BLOCKBUSTER too.
