On Friday (January 31), Dhurandhar saw its OTT premiere on Netflix even as the film continues to run in theatres. Of course, the box office run is almost over, which is why it is insignificant to the OTT premiere. Nevertheless, the film ends as Hindi cinema's biggest grosser, both in India and worldwide, with a closing worldwide gross of over Rs 1200 crore.
Dhurandhar is also the first Hindi film to gross Rs 1000 crore in India alone. However, there is one major Bollywood record that Dhurandhar will not be able to break. Amongst post-COVID Bollywood films, Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan holds the record for the most tickets sold, which comes to approximately 3.7 crore across all versions combined.
Dhurandhar, meanwhile, will end its theatrical run at approximately 3.6 crore, although it didn't have the benefit of dubbed versions. The Ranveer Singh-starrer released only in its Hindi version and hence, this makes the footfalls achievement a mammoth one. It is difficult to argue whether Dhurandhar could have breached Jawan with dubbed versions, given that Ranveer doesn't boast of a strong South India support.
Nevertheless, Dhurandhar created history and smashed most of the major box office records in Hindi cinema, both in India and worldwide. It has set the benchmark so high, that Dhurandhar 2 now has huge shoes to fill when it releases on March 19, 2026. Amongst post-COVID releases for Hindi version alone, Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 stands at top with 3.7 crore footfalls.
So, in the list of Bollywood films and Hindi films, Dhurandhar ends as no.2 in the footfalls list. For those unaware, Bollywood films are those made in Bollywood but also have dubbed versions while Hindi films mean only the Hindi version and it can be a dubbed version of a non-Hindi film, like Pushpa 2.
