After a strong opening day of Rs 30 crore nett, Border 2 is showing strong upward trends on its second day across India. The domestic box office had been under the Dhurandhar euphoria for more than seven weeks and it is now time for another action film to take over. While Border 2 is unlikely to get anywhere close to Dhurandhar's numbers, early trends hint at a success for the war drama.
The morning shows on the second day were on par with Friday with some areas showing minor gains while certain territories had minor dips. However, the occupancy levels all over India have shot up dramatically from the afternoon shows onwards. Overall, the second day numbers of Border 2 are set to show growth of at least 20-25 percent.
With a great chunk of late afternoon shows and the entire evening-night shows yet to start, Border 2 has already collected Rs 16 crore nett on its second day in India. The opening day estimates were at Rs 30-35 crore nett and the film just about cleared the Rs 30 crore nett mark. That was largely due to heavy rains in the evening at various parts of India and it meant that the night shows didn't jump as much.
There was also an India-New Zealand T20I that would have caused some kind of an effect on Friday. Saturday seems to be better on both these counts and the weekend pricing factor also comes into play. Estimates in the range of Rs 33-37 crore nett seems to be on the cards for Border 2 on its second day.
The four-day extended weekend should do business in the vicinity of Rs 125-135 crore nett, setting the base for a strong first week. However, Border 2 will need to maintain strong trends for the next two weeks as well before Ramadan factor intervenes.
