Akshaye Khanna is all set to dance his way to the sets of Dhurandhar 2, as per a new report. Caution: there are spoilers ahead!

The Bollywood actor who played the real-life Pakistani gangster, Rehman Baloch (aka Rehman Dakait), will return to the sets of Aditya Dhar's sequel to the hugely successful espionage thriller, Dhurandhar, despite the character's death, a Filmfare report said.

Khanna's portrayal of the brooding gangster—as well as his viral improvised dance in the film for Bahraini rapper Flipperachi's song Fa9la—earned him high praise.

Quite a few have even said that his performance overshadowed that of Ranveer Singh's Hamza Ali Mazari—an opinion that is hotly disputed.

Towards the end of the film, Rehman Dakait succumbed to his injuries after being fatally wounded in a fight with Hamza and Sanjay Dutt's character, SP Chaudhary Aslam.

Still, the report added that Khanna was returning for just a week to shoot a small portion of Rehman's backstory to fit it into the narrative of the second film—mainly Hamza's revenge arc. The second film will release on March 19, 2026.

Released on December 5, the first film has crossed Rs 800 crore (net) in India, and earned more than Rs 1,200 crore worldwide so far, as per Sacnilk data.

Featuring a powerhouse cast of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, among others, the film has also been praised for its wonderful soundtrack by Shashwat Sachdev.

"I just hope they don't spoil it with too many changes," a Reddit user wrote.

"Rehman dacait ka kasainuma [savage] backstory we want. M seated," another Redditor wrote, referencing the character's famous dialogue.

"Don't make it massy," a third Redditor warned.
