Ahead of its release on January 9, 2026, the makers of Vijay's final film, Jana Nayagan, have shared the trailer release date and time. It will be unveiled on January 3 at 6.45 pm, in Tamil, Telugu & Hindi versions.

Meanwhile, filmmaker H. Vinoth was asked whether Jana Nayagan is a remake of Balakrishna's Telugu entertainer Bhagavanth Kesari. To this, he replied that he can neither say "yes" nor "no", in an interview with Ananda Vikatan, while stating that it's a "pure Thalapathy Vijay" film. He hopes audiences don't jump to any conclusions before the movie has even been released and expects them to see the entire film to reach a final conclusion.

“Some people might get upset assuming it's a remake. My request to them: Please wait until the film is out. You'll get an idea about the film from promos and songs that'll be released soon," he added.

Jana Nayagan also features Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, and Bobby Deol, among others. Vinoth recently expressed his disappointment at Bollywood for not fully utilising Bobby Deol.

At the grand audio launch of Jana Nayagan held in Malaysia, Vijay reiterated, for the last time, that his decision to quit cinema for good is final, and that he is doing this for the fans who built a "fort" for him and kept him going with their constant support and encouraging words. "Naan cinemavaiye vittu kodukkiren (I am giving up cinema)," he said.
