VIDEO | Zomato driver robs composer Ricky Kej of ‘sump cover’; 2 CCTV cameras show 'bold' theft

Grammy award-winning composer Ricky Kej alleged that he was robbed by a Zomato driver at his Bengaluru residence on Saturday.

Kej took to X (Twitter) to complain to Zomato and Bengaluru city police, saying that one of their drivers stopped by and stole his sump cover

Kej said, “I was robbed! Dear @zomato @zomatocare, looks like one of your drivers entered my home on Thursday and stole our sump cover.”

He said that the man came around 6 p.m. He also posted 2 videos from his CCTV camera along with screenshots of the man and his vehicle number.

In the video, two men stop right outside Kej’s gate on a two-wheeler. The person sitting in the back gets off and opens the gate. He then removes a sump cover while staring into one of the CCTV cameras, and then slowly takes it out to load it on the two-wheeler. The men then drive off, leaving the gate open.

The man’s face is covered by a helmet.

The composer says that it was not the first time they came to his house. He said that the two had arrived 15 minutes earlier to scan the premises before coming a second time to commit the theft.

Kej said, “This was at 6 o'clock in the evening.. Quite bold of them! This is probably not their first time. They came in just 15 minutes earlier for a recce, and then trespassed and committed the crime. You can see the CCTV footage from 2 angles. Also, screenshots of his face and the number plate. Bengaluru City police responded to the post asking Ricky to share his location and contact number.

Kej is a three-time Grammy award-winning artist and an environmental advocate.

He had released 24 studio albums and worked on 3,500 commercials and composed for feature films.
