'Kalamkaval' Day 2 Box Office Collection: After his best 2025 opening, Mammootty crime thriller continues to woo fans during weekend

'Kalamkaval' minted Rs 5 crore in net India collection on Day 1, making it Mammootty's best opening in 2025

It was worth the wait. Mammukka fans have been waiting for a movie from the superstar for more than seven months. And Kalamkaval did not disappoint them, wooing filmgoers to theatres on Day 2.

On Day 2, Kalamkaval raked in Rs 1.88 crore till 5 pm, taking thee total to Rs 5.88 crore in net domestic collection, according to Sacnilk data.

This comes after the crime thriller minted Rs 5 crore in net India collection on Day 1, making it Mammootty's best opening in 2025. The other two releases this year were Bazooka, which grossed Rs 3.7 crore on Day 1 and Dominic and the Ladies Purse, which netted Rs 2.05 crore.

How much did Kalamkaval earn in worldwide collection?

In gross domestic collection, Kalamkaval bagged Rs 5.85 crore on Day 1. The overseas collection stood at Rs 7.65 crore. This takes the total Day 1 worldwide collection to Rs 13.5 crore, according to Sacnilk. The Day 2 worldwide collection is expected on Sunday.

Trade analyst AB George suggested that the figures were even higher. Taking to X, he said the movie earned Rs 15.66 crore worldwide on Day 1, which included Rs 5.92 gross domestic collection and Rs 9.74 crore from overseas screens. Going by the breakup of his overseas collection, Kalamkaval earned $940K in the Middle East, $55K in North America, $56K in UK and Ireland and $17K in Australia and New Zealand.

George added that this makes Kalamkaval Mammootty's second biggest opening after Turbo which opened with Rs 16.2 crore in Day 1 worldwide collection. The latest movie is also the all-time 8th biggest opener in Mollywood, he added.

Kalamkaval, which is helmed by Jithin K. Jose, the director of Dulquer Salmaan's Kurup, has delivered another gem in the crime genre. Jithin co-wrote the screenplay with Jishnu Sreekumar. The film stars Vinayakan in a key role. Gibin Gopinath, Gayathri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan, Shruti Ramachandran, and Malavika Menon are also part of the cast.
