Veteran actor Dharmendra's death on Monday, just weeks away from his 90th birthday, continues to send waves throughout Bollywood and beyond, as many wonderful stories about the actor come to the spotlight again.

One such heartwarming story is from the time he booked an entire hospital for Hema Malini, who at the time was pregnant with their first child, Esha Deol.

As Malini herself recounted on an episode of 'The Kapil Sharma Show', the story dates back to 1981, when she had entered the final trimester of her pregnancy.

According to her, the veteran actor managed to book a hundred rooms at the nursing home, effectively ensuring that the hospital would be peaceful and quiet, and without fans who might not just have caused a ruckus, but also might have posed security concerns.

He reportedly did this again during the birth of Ahana Deol in 1985.

"During the delivery of Esha and Ahana, he had booked the whole hospital in my name so that I don’t get disturbed by fans,” she reminisced on the show.

Her close friend, Neetu Kohli also spoke about Dharmendra's protective nature once, on an episode of 'Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai'.

"No one even knew that Hema was expecting. Dharam ji quietly booked all the rooms at the hospital just to make sure she had complete peace and privacy. It was his way of protecting his wife and their unborn child," Kohli said, as per an Indian Express report.

The two kept their marriage secret for many years, as their relationship itself was already under public scrutiny, since Dharmendra was married to Prakash Kaur at the time, with whom he shared four kids—Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta Deol and Ajeita Deol.
