The first full-fledged trailer of Dhurandhar is here, and it's strongly evident that director Aditya Dhar is not here to mess around. At four mins, it almost feels like a short film, without spoiling anything. It has already crossed 1 million views on YouTube.
Opening with a sequence of Arjun Rampal's antagonist (he's not the only one) torturing someone in the one of the goriest, wince-inducing ways possible, the trailer goes on to introduce the other baddies: Akshaye Khanne and Sanjay Dutt. Lots of fireworks!
When Ranveer, as the agent sent to "infiltrate the core of terrorism" in Pakistan, by his superior (R Madhavan), enters to unleash his share of fireworks, all hell breaks loose!
At the trailer launch event, Ranveer said he is "happy to be part of something where we are trying to push for something more, take our cinema to the world. It is India’s moment on the world stage and we want to be at the centre of it, and represent Indian cinema on the global stage."
The duration of the UA 16+ rated trailer seems to hint that Dhurandhar will have an epic runtime. A recent report in Bollywood Hungama said the espionage action thriller will have a runtime of a little over three hours. “Dhurandhar has a vast and expansive storyline. The focus is on Ranveer Singh’s character and what he goes through, while there are also other actors who have a crucial part. Director Aditya Dhar is clear that he doesn’t want to rush through the narrative and at the same time, ensure that every scene engages and excites the audience,” a source told the portal.
Unlike the earlier first glimpse, the four-min trailer is relatively more violent. Dhurandhar is expected to get a certification that would make it accessible to only mature audiences. And though unconfirmed, speculations of a second part in the works are also doing the rounds on the internet.
