Ajay Devgn's latest release De De Pyaar De 2 is having some respite on its fifth day as per the initial trends at the India box office. The rom-com ensured a huge crash on its first Monday, collecting barely Rs 4 crore nett in the country. After a moderate weekend of Rs 35 crore nett, this was a massive downfall for the film.

Tuesdays have generally shown a minor jump over Mondays for Bollywood films in recent times and this is due to the number of discounted offers available on major ticketing platforms. The morning shows on the fifth day have shown a jump of about 5-10 percent and this trend should stay through the day, with the evening and night shows expected to do better.

As per early estimates, De De Pyaar De 2 could end up collecting close to Rs 4.5-4.75 crore nett on its fifth day. These are still very low numbers and the film could potentially fall off the cliff in the remaining days of the week. However, another drop today would have officially been the last nail on the coffin.

De De Pyaar De collected close to Rs 95 crore nett and its sequel is unlikely to get anywhere close to that number despite releasing six years later with a larger screencount and higher average ticket price in India. The first installment also had a similar opening weekend but had a consistent run of four to five weeks at the box office.

However, since the COVID19 pandemic came, box office dynamics have changed, more so in Bollywood where anything other than large-scale films have struggled to get going. Rom-com genre was always a vulnerable one for Hindi films but now, the task has gotten tougher unless the world of mouth is exceptional.

De De Pyaar De 2 clearly doesn't have that and while the reports aren't too bad, the average feedback is just not enough for audiences to flock to theatres, especially in this era of OTT dominance.

After five days, the film's worldwide gross is expected to be around Rs 69 crore.
