Tamil actor Abhinay Kinger, known most for his role in the Dhanush starer Thulluvadho Ilamai, died at the age of 44 on Monday at 4 am.
The actor was being treated for liver disease before his death.
Before his death, he had lived alone, according to a press note issued by the actor's team.
He had also continued to work despite his poor health condition due to financial struggles.
Abhinay had made a public appeal for financial assistance for his treatment. In a video message made before his death, he states, "I don't know if I'll live much longer. Doctors have said I only have a year and a half left."
He stayed at a rented home in Rangarajapuram, Kodambakkam, during his time of death. The actor's team said that the house owner initially argued that the actor's body should not be kept at the home. Media, police, Chairman of the board of directors of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, Poochi Murugan, and actor Vijay Muthu soon got involved. Arrangements have been made to keep the body at the rented house.
Representatives of the Nadigar Sangam or the South Indian Artistes Association have been entrusted with arranging his funeral due to the absence of close relatives.
Fans and colleagues from the industry are mourning the actor's demise.
Abhinay has appeared in both Malayalam and Tamil films. He made his debut appearance in the 2002 film Thulluvadho Ilamai, which starred both Dhanush and Sherin. Later on, Actor Dhanush stepped in to help Abhinay financially, contributing Rs 5 lakh for his treatment.
He also had lead roles in Jjunction (2002), Singara Chennai (2004), and Pon Megalai (2005).
He later transitioned to playing supporting roles and appeared in Solla Solla Inikkum and Palaivana Solai.
