'Dies Irae' Box Office Collection Day 8: After break-even point, Pranav Mohanlal starrer hopes to gain momentum in 2nd weekend

Pranav Mohanlal starrer Dies Irae, which is directed by Rahul Sadasivan, has undoubtedly won the hearts of critics and fans alike. This has reflected in the box office too as the film has entered Rs 50 crore club worldwide in less than a week and reached break-even point in domestic net collection.

Dies Irae is produced by Night Shift Studios and Y Not Studios reportedly at a budget of Rs 24 crore. The movie comes with the tagline, The Day of Wrath, which is the translation of the Latin phrase, 'Dies Irae'. The title is taken from a Latim hymn that describes the Last Judgment.

As of Friday, it has minted Rs 28.28 crore in net domestic collection till 10 pm, according to early estimates by Sacnilk. On Day 8, the movie raked in Rs 1.83 crore till 10 pm.

In the first week, the film bagged Rs 26.46 crore in net domesticc collection and Rs 31.1 crore in gross domestic collection.

Dies Irae also minted Rs 24.15 crore in overseas earnings in the first week, taking the total worldwide collection to Rs 55.25 crore.

The movie opened to Rs 4.7 crore in the domestic box office of Day 1, followed by Rs 5.7 crore and Rs 6.35 crore on weekend days. On Monday, there was a dip in earnings as Dies Irae collected Rs 3 crore on Day 4. It further declined in the following days, with Rs 2.6 crore earned on Day 5, Rs 2.3 crore on Day 6 and Rs 1.8 crore on Day 7.

Dies Irae is not Pranav's first 50 crore movie. His previous two flicks, both directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, Hridayam and Varshangalkku Shesham, has also raked in Rs 50 crore.

His father, Mohanlal, is the only other Mollywood actor to have a hat-trick in Rs 50 crore movies– Empuraan, Thudarum and Hridayapoorvam.
