Andy Muschietti is all set to bring Stephen King’s terrifically terrifying magic back to life with the much-anticipated ‘IT: Welcome to Derry’. A prequel to the 'IT' movies, the series premiered on HBO Max on October 26 and is available exclusively on JioHotstar for the Indian audience from October 27.

The first season will span eight episodes, with each episode released weekly on Mondays. The last episode is scheduled for December 14, 2025.

Bill Skarsgard’s impressively disturbing Pennywise portrayal has made a comeback with the show. Other members of the cast include Rudy Mancuso, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, Madeleine Stowe, and Stephen Rider.

The Muschietti siblings, Andy and Barbara, are back to ensure that the creative juices continue to flow with the potential for much bigger (and hopefully better) things. Benjamin Wallfisch also makes a comeback to keep the musical realm tuned.

An origin story revolving around the two popular IT movies — IT (2017) and IT: Chapter Two (2019), both based on Stephen King's bestselling novel — the show aims to explore the origin story of Pennywise and how he ended up developing an unquenchable thirst for terrorising the residents of Derry, a story that seems to have been open to endless speculations since time immemorial.

Whether the show ends up answering the mind-eating questions or leaves us with cliffhangers, you never know what to expect from the eyes and the size of the shapeshifting Pennywise.
