After back-to-back films that were all serious and intense in Empuraan and Thudarum, Mohanlal's third release of the year was a light-hearted feel-good film in Hridayapoorvam. The film, directed by veteran Sathyan Anthikadu, was the superstar's Onam release.

Hridayapoorvam released on the same day as Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra and while many expected the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer to do well, nobody could have predicted the film to be the runaway Onam winner. The fantasy action flick broke all box office records and will close in on a worldwide gross of Rs 300 crore, the first by a Malayalam film.

Meanwhile, Hridayapoorvam also had decent audience reviews and managed to survive the onslaught due to Mohanlal's purple patch at the box office with a worldwide gross of Rs 77 crore. While these aren't blockbuster numbers, it did enough to comfortable emerge as a SUPER HIT at the box office.

Hridayapoorvam box office details and economics:

Kerala gross: Rs 42.75 crore

ROI gross: Rs 4.55 crore

Overseas: $3.32M (Rs 29.80 crore approx)

Total worldwide gross: Rs 77.10 crore

Budget: Rs 15 crore (excluding Mohanlal's salary)

Kerala distributor share: Rs 16.80 crore (approx.)

OTT and satellite rights: Unconfirmed but allegedly valued at Rs 25 crore cumulatively

A hugely profitable outing for Aashirvaad Cinemas.

Verdict -   SUPER HIT
