With media reports now claiming that Assamese sensation Zubeen Garg's death was due to drowning—and not a scuba diving accident—his wife Garima Garg alleged on Thursday that foul play was likely involved in her husband's death, hinting at his manager's involvement.

A day ago, his manager Siddharth Sharma and festival chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta were arrested from Delhi in connection with singer's death.

"He usually sleeps during the day; maybe he was forcefully taken. He was also on medication—I don’t even know if he was given his medicines," Garima pointed out to News18, questioning why Sharma had not taken care of him.

“He never had a heart problem," she added, saying that she was "really shocked" after Sharma told her about Zubeen's first seizure underwater.

She also questioned the need for Zubeen's sudden picnic (and swimming) trip, arguing that he had been visibly tired after his previous shows, and that he had not told her about the trip when they last spoke on September 18—a day before his death.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF)—which had earlier ruled out foul play in Zubeen Garg's death—said that it had passed on an autopsy report and preliminary findings of the investigation to the High Commission of India, as per a Straits Times report.

A number of media reports have also claimed that Garg's death certificate, issued by a Singapore hospital, stated drowning as the cause of his death.

Notably, doubts are also being cast over a video posted on X of Garg taking a swim after jumping off a yacht with a life jacket. This is because the poster later alleged that after returning to the yacht, Garg soon jumped in without his life jacket.

“There might be many things … this was not death due to scuba diving. Investigation is on and we all want to know what exactly happened," Garima said.
