Jolly LLB 3 has endured a fabulous second day at the domestic box office. The satirical courtroom drama featuring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi has seen a signficant upward trend on Saturday, indicating that the general word-of-mouth seems to be on the positive side. The film had an opening day collection of Rs 12.75 crore net, which was an underwhelming figure when you consider that Jolly LLB 2 opened to a similar figure way back in 2017.
However, with the box office dynamics changing considerably post-pandemic, getting even a decent opening has become a challenge for content-oriented films. From that point of view, this was a decent start for Jolly LLB 3.
The key, though, was always going to be the trends on two as such films need to witness significant growth across Saturday and Sunday if they are to have any chance at the box office. The first box has been ticked by Jolly LLB 3, as early trends suggest approximately 55 percent jump in collections with a much higher average occupancy across the country in the afternoon and evening shows.
The film opened to an average occupancy of 18 percent in the morning shows, a welcome jump from Friday morning that recorded approximately 11 percent during the same time. It is from the afternoon shows that the film started to experience a bigger rise in collections.
Friday's afternoon shows had an occupancy of 20 percent but on Saturday, that nearly doubled with the average occupancy recorded showing a figure in the 35-40 percent range. The evening shows have shown an occupancy of 65 percent, much higher than Friday evening which saw an average occupancy of 50 percent approximately.
Early estimates point towards a second day collection in the Rs 19-20 crore range with the weekend set to be around the Rs 55 crore mark. These are impressive numbers for this genre and while the film will still need to be steady on the weekdays and second weekend, this trend is encouraging for Jolly LLB 3.
