'The Bads of Bollywood' Celeb Review: Suniel Shetty, Kajol, Akshay Kumar praise Aryan Khan's directorial debut

Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, titled The Bads of Bollywood, has taken social media by storm, hours after it premiered on Netflix. It was released at 12.30 pm on September 18.

Though Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were seen in the trailer, a surprise cameo by Salman Khan has stolen the hearts of fans. Produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, The Bads of Bollywood is co-written by Aryan, Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan.

Announcing the series, Shah Rukh Khan posted on X, "Ab jo bolega… yeh show bolega 🔥 Watch The Ba***ds of Bollywood, out now, only on Netflix."

Suniel Shetty was among celebrities who lauded the show when it premiered for Mumbai's elite audience, including Kajol and Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Suniel Shetty and others. The Ambani family, including Mukesh, Nita, Akash, Radhika and Shloka also were present.

After the premiere, Suniel Shetty posted on X, "Watching you take this leap into direction Aryan feels truly special. The Bads of Bollywood isn’t just a film — it’s your voice, your vibe, your vision. Rooting for you as you turn the camera towards a whole new way of looking at things. Proud doesn’t even cut it. Let’s just say — Lights. Camera. Legacy."

Actor Akshay Kumar also wished Aryan Khan, saying, "All the best @aryan beta, may this be the start of something truly amazing. Congratulations to the proud parents, @iamsrk & @gaurikhan on such an incredible beginning!"

Karan Johar praised Aryan Khan for his hardwork despite the burden of his father's stardom. "Shine on son!!! Tonight is your big night… when your family , friends and the fraternity will welcome you to the movies with their arms wide out (your father made that a national gesture) … you treaded a path that many never believed you would … the daunting task of being behind the camera… of being a story teller and the captain of its execution… have seen you work tirelessly and passionately for over 2 years and never once taking the opportunity given to you for granted…."

The filmmaker said Aryan has an "individual style of telling story". "I can’t wait for everyone to see and hear your voice in #badsofbollywood … I am so so proud of you and love you so much!!! ( also thanks for giving me a part in the show, I was secretly dying for you to ask me ) …. Series toh ban gayi beta…Picture abhi baaki hai!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️," he added.

Sharing a photo from the Wednesday premiere, Kajol posted, "With the Ba**ds of Bollywood ;) congrats @aryan .. only thing more awesome I'm sure will be ur show! Too excited…".

Farah Khan also took to social media, praising Aryan's talent. "My Boy! The kindest, sweetest, talented n most hardworking director iv ever had the privilege to choreograph for.. @___aryan___ may the movie gods bless you with love n success for #the B***dsofBollywood ❤️ lov u."

There are seven episodes in the show, including Episode 1: Meet the Ba***ds, Episode 2: Movie Mafia, Episode 3: Barbaad Mohabbat, Episode 4: Bullshit Party, Episode 5: My Hero, Episode 6: The Filmfirst Awards and Episode 7: Picture Ka Title Hoga….

Besides lead actor Lakshya Lalwani, the show features an ensemble cast of Bobby Deol, Raghav Juyal, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Sahher Bambba, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor.
