As Mrunal Thakur's debut feature 'Love Sonia' turned 7 on Sunday (Sept. 14), the actress reflected on one of her finest performances in the hard-hitting film directed by Tabrez Noorani.

In a note posted on her Instagram, Mrunal wrote that 'Love Sonia' was the "most unexpected" gift that came her way. "I was just a small-town girl, with big dreams in her heart, and somehow out of thousands, Sonia chose me. That film wasn’t just my debut… it was my first step into a world where cinema could change lives," she recalled.

The film proved to be an enviable debut for Mrunal, who got to start her career with a film that featured some of the biggest names in international cinema: Demi Moore, Freida Pinto, Richa Chadha, Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Riya Sisodiya, Saie Tamhankar, and Mark Duplass. "I felt like the tiniest fish in a vast ocean, but their kindness made me feel like I belonged."

Mrunal also found in Tabrez Noorani a "fearless" and encouraging voice. She remembers the filmmaker telling her, "No matter what happens commercially, we must be proud of the lives this film saves.”

'Love Sonia' narrates the haunting trials and tribulations of a girl who sets out on a journey to find her sister who has been sold to the flesh trade.

Expressing her gratitude to people who watched the film and send her feedback, Mrunal concluded that it "sparked change, inspired NGOs, saved lives" and that she owes everything to. "Sonia gave me courage, gave me a voice, gave me a family in cinema. Thank you to everyone who made this journey possible."

For those who are yet to see the film, 'Love Sonia' is streaming on JioHotstar.
