The fourth film of 'The Conjuring' horror franchise will arrive in Indian theatres untouched. Warner Bros. India, which is bringing 'The Conjuring: Last Rites' to screens in the country on September 5, confirmed an 'A' certification (Adults only) for the film starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Basically, no cuts whatsoever.
The news should be a relief for loyal fans of 'The Conjuring' universe which was launched in 2013. In India, the first film enjoyed a long theatrical run, more than most Hollywood tentpoles. The franchise — which follows the adventures of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Wilson and Farmiga, respectively — now enjoys the distinction of being the highest-grossing horror franchise in cinema history. It gave rise to multipe spin-offs in the form of 'The Nun' and 'Annabelle', which got their own sequels, and 'The Curse of La Llorona'. 'The Conjuring' horror universe comprises 9 movies in total.

The first 'Conjuring' film had Ed and Lorraine investigating tracking the disturbing case of a dark entity haunting a family in Rhode Island. The second, ‘The Conjuring 2’, released in 2016, followed Ed and Lorraine to London to investigate the Enfield Poltergeist case. The film introduced audiences to Valak, the Demon Nun, who became the subject of the 'Nun' spin-off. The third film, ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’, released in 2021, revolved around a murder trial in which the suspect cited demonic possession as defense.
