Kerala Box Office 2025: 'Lokah' and 'Hridayapoorvam' break into top-5 opening days among Malayalam films

Onam releases at the Kerala Box Office got off to a strong start with 'Lokah' and 'Hridayapoorvam' registering strong first day collections respectively

'Hridayapoorvam' vs 'Lokah Chapter 1 - Chandra' Hridayapoorvam and Lokah have both taken a strong start at the Kerala Box Office

With Onam around the corner, the Kerala Box Office is buzzing with the new releases Hridayapoorvam and Lokah taking an excellent start on their release day. The good part is that both films have also received favourable feedback from the audiences if the early reports are anything to go by. With the festival week ahead, both films can hope to cash in on this period although they will have competition from Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira that has hit the screens today (August 29).

Mohanlal's Hridayapoorvam, which features his reunion with veteran director Sathyan Anthikadu after a gap of ten years, has registered the third best opening day at the Kerala Box Office this year among Malayalam films. The family entertainer has grossed ₹3.26 crores on its opening day, with only Empuraan (₹14.07 crores) and Thudarum (₹5.10 crores) having a higher opening day this year. To state the obvious, it is Mohanlal dominating the show with his three releases stacking up in the top-three of the list. Empuraan's collections were also an all-time record in Mollywood history while Thudarum is currently the highest-grossing film in Kerala.

Hridayapoorvam's collections were marginally better than Mammootty's action film Bazooka that previously held the third spot with ₹3.22 crores. Lokah, meanwhile, has grossed ₹2.71 crores on its opening day. It is a superb figure, given that the film doesn't feature a certified superstar. The grand scale of the film and excellent marketing helped it to generate sufficient buzz for its release day. Now, with extremely positive reviews from the public, the film has the legs to keep going at the box office. If it had gained a solo release, the collections could have been at least 20 percent higher and may have breached the ₹3 crore mark.
